Terms of Service
Welcome to The Basement (thebasement.fun). These terms cover your use of the site. By browsing, voting, writing a take, or submitting a game, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the service.
In these terms, "The Basement," "we," and "us" mean The Basement Games Inc., and "you" means you, the person using the site.
Your content, and the license you give us
You keep ownership of the takes, verdicts, and other content you post ("your content"). To run the site, you grant The Basement a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and distribute your content in connection with operating and promoting the service. This includes showing your takes on game pages, in summaries, and in share images. You can edit or delete your content; cached or backup copies may persist for a reasonable period, and content others have quoted or that we're required to retain may remain.
You promise that your content is yours to post and doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.
Acceptable use
Don't do any of the following:
- Post content that's unlawful, infringing, harassing, hateful, or deliberately false.
- Impersonate a person, studio, or project, or misrepresent your connection to one.
- Manipulate verdicts or takes: vote farming, sock-puppet accounts, paid or coordinated reviews, or reviewing your own game.
- Scrape, overload, probe, or interfere with the service or its security.
- Use the site to promote a scam or to mislead other players.
We can hide content, shadow-rank it, suspend accounts, or de-list games that break these rules. Listings found to be scams are removed; rugged projects are marked Sunset, flagged rather than deleted.
No financial advice
The Basement is not financial advice, investment advice, or any other kind of professional advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any token, NFT, or other asset. We don't sell tokens, we don't take payment for placement or reviews, and we never predict prices. Crypto assets are volatile and risky, and you can lose everything you put in. Any decision you make is your own. Do your own research and, if you need it, talk to a qualified professional.
Token and on-chain information is reference data only
Where a game page shows a token ticker, contract address, or links to an explorer or chart, that information is provided for reference only. We don't verify, endorse, or guarantee it, and it may be inaccurate or out of date. It is not an offer, solicitation, or endorsement of any asset.
Copyright and DMCA
If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright, send a notice to [PLACEHOLDER: dmca@…] with the information required under the DMCA: identification of the work, the material you're complaining about and its location, your contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you're authorized to act. We respond to valid notices and may remove the material and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any listing, verdict, take, or piece of on-chain data is accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Basement and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or assets, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (which, in v1, is zero) or [PLACEHOLDER: liability cap amount].
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; we'll post the new version with a revised date, and continued use means you accept it. Questions go to [PLACEHOLDER: contact@…].
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [PLACEHOLDER: jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be handled in the courts of [PLACEHOLDER: jurisdiction / venue].
